Gamma AI: The AI-Powered Presentation Tool

Gamma AI presentation tool

Creating presentations used to take hours — choosing a template, writing each slide, finding images, making sure the design was consistent. Gamma AI compresses all of that into a few minutes. Type a topic or paste an outline, and Gamma generates a complete, well-designed presentation you can edit and share immediately.

I've used it for YouTube video outlines, client pitches, and internal notes. Here's an honest look at what it does and whether it's worth using.

What Gamma creates

Gamma doesn't just build slide decks. It can create:

  • Presentations — traditional slide format, shareable as a link or exported as PDF/PowerPoint
  • Documents — long-form content with a clean reading layout
  • Web pages — one-page sites for portfolios, landing pages, or project summaries

How it works

The process is straightforward:

  1. Go to gamma.app and sign in (free account available)
  2. Click Create new and choose Generate with AI
  3. Enter your topic — e.g. "Introduction to Prompt Engineering for beginners"
  4. Gamma generates an outline. Edit it or approve it as-is
  5. Choose a theme and click Generate — your presentation is ready in under 30 seconds

The free plan

Gamma's free plan gives you 400 AI credits to start (enough for 4–8 full presentations depending on length). After that, generating new content costs credits, but editing and sharing existing work is free. For most occasional users, the free plan is sufficient.

What I like

  • The output looks genuinely professional — not like a template filled with Lorem Ipsum
  • Shareable link works immediately, no export needed for web presentations
  • You can embed videos, GIFs, and interactive elements directly
  • Editing is drag-and-drop with an intuitive block editor

Where it falls short

  • Less control over fine layout details compared to PowerPoint or Keynote
  • The AI sometimes generates content that's a bit generic — treat it as a first draft
  • Export to PowerPoint works but you may need to clean up some formatting
Gamma's sweet spot is speed. If you need a solid presentation in 10 minutes rather than 2 hours, it's the best tool for the job. Just review the content — the design handles itself.

Who should use it

Content creators, students, freelancers, and anyone who presents regularly but doesn't want to spend hours on slide design. The YouTube creators I know use it for video outlines and pitch decks. It's also excellent for educators who want quick visual summaries of topics.
